Wild cougars have the widest range of any mammal in the Americas. AKA pumas, panthers & mt. lions, these strong cats roam freely delighting in the wonders of the world. Cult of the Cougar is devoted to this adventurous way of life.
About Us
Rebekah Antrosio and Jessica Christianson are high school friends who recently reacquainted at a schoolmate's wedding. A common love of travel and adventure inspired these ladies to plan a van-dwelling open-ended road trip along the Pan American highway.
Here are some recommendations for accommodations in the
Centro (Historic District) of Mazatlan. Most places have discounts for longer stays –
don’t be afraid to ask.
There are many bed and breakfast places, guest houses and
apartments within the
“Centro” neighborhood.We found that a
walking tour is the most helpful for finding a place that suits you best.If beachfront is not a necessity, perhaps
start at Machado Square
and work outward in concentric circles. There are two hills on either side of the plazas and Olas Altas beach –
the properties on these hills have excellent views and seem lovely if you don’t
mind a steep walk into town or to the beach. The north hill (we call it cell phone hill due to all the cell towers on
the back side) seems to be the fancier and more gringo populated of the two.
We rented a one-bedroom apartment from the Mazatlan Property
Group on Penuelas street
near the Plaza Leones (Hidalgo
Square). The neighborhood is very local and residential, yet only a few blocks
from the beach, market and all three plazas.
Penuelas Street
– We live in the house behind the ficus tree.
Penuelas – Again, behind the ficus.
Our apartmento
Our corner store – The “Hidalgo”
Plaza Leones
(Hidalgo Square)
– The entrance to the library
Plaza Leones
– Where we get the internet and make phone calls
