About Us
Rebekah Antrosio and Jessica Christianson are high school friends who recently reacquainted at a schoolmate's wedding. A common love of travel and adventure inspired these ladies to plan a van-dwelling open-ended road trip along the Pan American highway.
While traveling in Mexico for three months has been
grand, being on the road for three months has been exhausting. The constant decision making and wrong turns
of only having a generalized plan coupled with the sounds, smells, language
barrier and cultural differences of a foreign country were starting to wear our
patience and spirits thin.In need of a
little R&R, we checked into Las Brisas
on the cliffs of Acapulco.
Las Brisas is certainly not budget accommodations, but the
resort and property are impeccably managed and well worth the expense. The property is located on the cliffs high above
the bay in Acapulco. Each casita has a terrace, private or shared
pool, and a beach bed with views of the bay and/or downtown Acapulco. The rooms are fairly spacious and nicely appointed with excellent
linens, furniture and marble bathrooms (with hot water pressure and consistency
to die for!). Coffee, pastries and fresh fruit are dropped off in your “magic
box” each morning so you can fetch them at your leisure. Our room, Casita #325, shared a pool with the
casita above, but the guests were never there so it was extremely private. We had a sweeping view of the bay and
downtown, with perfect placement for the sunset between the island and the
mainland.
The hotel also maintains a private beach club called La
Concha which is located a few minutes from the hotel.Shuttles run every twenty minutes to the
beach club, which never had more than 30 guests at it.The beach club has a fresh water pool with a
swim up bar and a salt water pool that leads into a small roped off area in the
bay for swimming. The salt water pool
had lots of fish and sealife to look at, with a snorkel or otherwise, as the
water was clear enough for topside viewing. We even met some fun folks from Santa
Barbara at the beach club – it was a nice change to
have an easy conversation in English with people our age.
For a relaxing getaway in a happening beach city, Las Brisas
is a fantastic choice. While you are
tucked away in your own private paradise, the city of Acapulco is just below with everything from
beach sports to fine dining and nightlife. For me it was the perfect place to step back and take a halftime break
from our travels in Mexico.A hearty two thumbs up!
