Tazumal and San Salvador Part II

8/5/09 - 8/9/09
We visited the ruins of Tazumal which are right in the middle of Chalchuapa.  Much of Tazumal was again covered in concrete for preservation purposes several years ago.  I found this interesting in terms of form with the precise sculpted corners yet the wavy stairs/platforms.

Heading back to San Salvador, we enjoyed some of the festivities around town during the week-long national holiday.  We discovered a gem in the Zona Rosa in the Casa Las Magnolias, a nice family run hotel within walking distance to everything.  However, with all the time we spent in the capital city and the proximity of everything in El Salvador, we realized we should have rented an apartment in San Salvador for a month and saved thousands!
