We love El Salvador

7/24/09 – 9/1/09
El Salvador receives nothing but the highest marks from us. From the friendly people to the costless customs transactions to the reasonable park fees to the remarkable recovery from a civil war and the functionality of the entire country, El Salvador is a relatively undiscovered gem. Our entire stay was filled with positive experiences in the cities, country, farmland and beaches. The people were helpful and genuine, yet not pushy or aggressive in any way.

Our last days in San Salvador were spent at the Beverly Hills Hotel on the outskirts of the city. This hotel was a nice respite from the Zona Rosa, within close proximity to the amenities of the city, yet removed from the hustle and bustle. There are a few good restaurants within walking distance of the Beverly Hills, but there is always a cab waiting to take you anywhere in the city or beyond. The van was in need of service so we left in the hands of the competent fellows at Multiservicios, an excellent car shop on Santa Elena Boulevard, with mechanics that were honest, trustworthy, helpful, efficient and reliable. They gave us rides to and from our various destinations and watched over our van as if it were their own.

We can’t say enough to affirm our positive feelings toward El Salvador and its people. Much thanks to the Cristiani family for offering us their hospitality and homes and sharing their great country with us. We are certain El Salvador will prosper and succeed as it is due and hope to return someday in the future.
