Scenic Highway 12 - Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument

Although the drive through southern Utah sometimes seems like a tour of rocks, the spectacular scenery never fails to amaze.  Scenic Highway 12 from Bryce Canyon to Capitol Reef is no exception.  It begins high up on the plateau with sweeping vistas, only to wind down through the deep-cut canyons of Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument.  This newly protected land is some of the wildest terrain in the U.S. and is in fact the last place in the Continental U.S. to be mapped.  Enjoy!
